When I began exploring photography I remember the thrill of producing a correctly exposed and composed photograph. Now with the introduction of digital imaging it is easy for anyone with a compact camera or mobile phone to record an acceptable image. What then is the difference between a technically good image and a stimulating photograph? I wish I knew the answer. What I do know is that I strive to provoke feeling and emotion, to stimulate thought and to create a depth of meaning in my images. But photography has to share time with lots of other things. There is work, because photography doesn’t pay the bills. Then there is running and cycling because we all need to keep fit . Then there is food and drink because when you exercise to extreme you need to eat lots too. Then there are the allotments because it’s good to grow some of that food yourself, fresh, organic and cheap. So by now you can see that there is not much time left for anything else…..
