Provincetown and Outer Cape Cod are well-known through a wide variety of human historical and cultural events and experiences. The actual first landing place of the Pilgrims, it has evolved over time as a globally-known, often-visited vacation stop. Other than this usual perspective about it, the Outer Cape is far less known for the extraordinary Natural world that quietly exists out here in the place we often call "the end of the world."
“Naturally PROVINCETOWN” is the offering of a photographer born in Japan, who chose more than a decade ago to come to live here on the Outer Cape. His book is a beautiful collection of one private person’s intimate relationship with both his camera and with the diverse, almost magical world of Cape wildlife that has come to know him and to recognize him. Through his own capacity for long periods of quiet stillness, these wild critters of the Outer Cape have come to allow him more than usual access to their private world of individual quirks, antics, joys, cautions and endless struggles simply to keep on living. His photography ultimately captures us as well, as it offers the unusual opportunity to see and feel the hidden personality of the wildness here as he does.
