Playing with series and sequence, 1/20 juxtaposes scientific observation against a backdrop of artistic interpretation. The publication of “The Splash of a Drop” by Professor Worthington in 1895 explores the physics of a splashing drop. Professor Worthington observes and drew the progression of a drop over the period of 1/20 of a second. The drawings are featured here against paintings from the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art where the artists explore their interpretations of the movement of water.
