This work is about a photographic series, which explores the boundaries between the staged and the document in photographic area. More specific this project is dealing between two different areas and depicts through the art practice and how can both work together.

This particular photographic work, based on the life of a transsexual and her pimp. Both of them are part of my personal experiences because their activities are taking place around the neighborhood I grew up (at West side of Thessalonica in Greece). I set up the whole scene with color lighting trying to produce photographs that look simple and fast like snapshots, and at the same time cinematic with a dramatic sense. Most of the times I left the character to extemporize in order to record more truthful and personal moments. I made several portraits with the basic characters, (the transsexual, her pimp and one of her clients) on the one hand is depicted their everyday activities and on the other hand is shown how they performed their roles during the shooting, Electra as a prostitute and Constantine as a pimp.

The main point around my subject matter is to produce work that will be able to make wider the audience’s thoughts about this kind of people, and to present them as interesting people in a big part of the society, which normally face them as marginal. The way to achieve that is through a series of public shows in venues that usually it is difficult to see them. For me, that makes the venues active and at the same time a part of the work.
