The Photogenesis Camera Club was founded in 1988 to provide it members with an opportunity to learn more of the art and science of photography, as well as display their work in an environment of constructive criticism. The club meets once a month and in Fremont, California. Unlike most camera clubs, the emphasis is on sharing knowledge within the club, rather than competitive evaluation. Photogenesis utilizes a critique format that allows members to discuss photographs. This allows members to learn from each other’s experiences and knowledge of photography. The interests on the members and their skill levels vary considerably. Some members specialize in black and white, others in color. The member’s interested include photojournalism, travel, portraiture, nature, abstracts and landscape photography. Photogenesis also organizes trip to many locations around northern California and workshop on a wide variety f photographic subjects.
