Über das Buch
Lyrical and beautifully imagistic, these poems traverse the author's path from young adulthood through love and loss into middle age and beyond. Vivid images entwine with wordplay, creating a language half pictorial, yet rooted in word and grammar. Her view of the world is stark yet gently rendered. She apprehends the reality of the present, but describes it from sideways and intensely personal point of view: a portrait of a flower fully detailed from the underneath — the full light of noon veiled in a petal.
The poems document life, love and loss, the learning of self, and the finding of one's voice. They are raw, evoking the primal cries of pain and sorrow, satisfaction, pride, anger, rage, hubris, shame, regret, strength and joy.
The books is the author's first, and marks her debut onto the stage of creative writing. It is poignant for its isolation and sense of the "other".
