This catalog accompanies the exhibition "Present Tense 2015: Future Perfect." The exhibition highlights exceptional artists of Asian descent working in today’s Bay Area graduate study programs. In the third edition of this exhibition series, the Visual Art Center recognizes the vital presence of Asian and Asian American artists in the Bay Area art scene. It is a showcase of artists at a key juncture of their developing careers. Rather than a broad survey, the exhibition itself is designed to give each artist room to express their specific themes, mediums, and formal inquiries. The show honors these artists in a city that is increasingly difficult to navigate careerwise due to rising rents and limited venues.
