Burma - also known as Myanmar is a Southeast Asian country of 51million people bordered by Bangladesh, India, China, Laos and Thailand.

These pictures give a flavour of the country, its people and their way of life: from bustling Yangon the former capital and largest city, the railway much of which has not changed since the country was part of the British Empire over 60 years ago and Inle Lake - a freshwater lake located within the southern Shan State.
