This book contains a collection of photographs from a range of locations throughout the North East of England. All of these locations are no longer in use, having lain derelict for many years. Each has its own individual personality. I have focused not only on the buildings themselves, but also on the people who have helped to shape the personality of each.



I have always found derelict buildings intriguing. They are so often left to decay and rot over many years before being demolished, resulting in their gradual deterioration and change. This book concentrates on the human elements left behind within this type of environment. Such buildings were once heavily used by the people who worked in them or who used the facilities they provided. Once bustling with activity, these buildings are now empty, still and full of atmosphere.
