This started as a project that I presumed to be somewhat convenient. While traveling for away games Marist gives their athletes meal money, needless to say the team eats out almost every day of every weekend. The idea was to photograph my meals and manipulate their color, form, and texture. Through these manipulations I aimed to distort the viewer's perceptions and present the foods in abstract forms. I started to photograph every meal I ate and soon realized that the images started to seem a bit uninteresting and repetitive. Towards the end of the project I decided to approach the project in a more traditional manner. I arranged my own photography set on my desk in my room and photographed the foods that I tend to eat on a regular basis. I kept their natural aesthetic the same to contrast the digital manipulations of my previous images. So vualá! Enjoy.
