In June 2012, I explored six cemeteries in Stephenson County, Illinois. I was in pursuit of how we remember our loved ones after they have left this world. I found Civil War graves, communities that remembered war heroes, headstones shaped as cowboy boots and so much more.



This is my story of these hallowed grounds.
