Über das Buch
Amongst many other talents, Josh had an ability to find beauty in the details of life. Some say he had an “eye” for photography, his photos are undeniably compelling and thought provoking. Though untrained, he had a quiet competence and there was a certain amount of playfulness and bravery in his style. Everything just seemed to look better from his camera whether it was a Polaroid or a DSLR.
My intention for this album was to celebrate Josh’s artwork from the college years onward. Narrowing his vast archive down to one book was no easy task. In looking through his digital images, slides and prints, I found many recurring themes in his style. He was fascinated with the contrasts of farm and of the city, of colors, grittiness, symmetry, lines and chaos. He made art out of found art, whether it be from the street or in nature.
He enjoyed taking pictures of friends, family and loved ones. These themes were consistent with who Josh was.
My hope for this album is to provide a small vignette into his essence by showing the world from his point of view, 6 feet, 5 inches above.
