This series of photos, I chose to do my way. By this I mean, I walked around him as a he worked. I told him to pretend I wasn’t there. I would talk to him as I worked, as I watched, I would ask him questions as I looked around. I imagine I was a bit of a nuisance, but my questions seemed to excite him.

The word “Tailor” is the name given to someone who makes, repairs, or alters clothing professionally, typically suits and men's clothing. The word “Tailor” is a common surname as well, as a matter of fact in the English Language it is “Taylor”. In Spanish the surname Sastre is a relatively common name, but it is also the word for Tailor. Krawiec (Kravitz) is the Polish term for the occupation, but it is also a surname we have heardcountless times in popular culture, be it in music or in the names of literary characters. As a result of the use of the name in all of its different forms, it appears to me that the occupation of working with clothing, being a Tailor is a role in society that is accepted around the World; it is acknowledged by all Cultures.

It is my estimation that the role of the Tailor has existed for a long time. Not only from the moment that Humanity became conscious of their nudity, but since the time that we became conscious of the desire for well designed happens in this little shop, how does the Tailor do it and why does the Tailor do it. It would take time, but my curiousity eventually got the best of me. When it did, I decided to take a look inside.
