Über den Autor
Debbie M. Smith
Rolla, Kansas
A freelancer and darkroom technician in the late seventies, I didn't start out taking pictures of homesteads. I worked at a local college as an events photographer and at a portrait studio in the town where I grew up. My interest was in wildlife photography then, but after marrying my husband, we moved to the country about five miles from the historic Santa Fe Trail. The vast and sweeping grasslands of Kansas became my canvas and a Leica M6 camera, my brush. The sage, wild native grasses, and tumbleweeds provide a warm and nostalgic quality that I prefer in my work.
