Studio Works
Artists in their creative space
Studio Works is about glimpsing the artists’ work spaces, their creative processes and the significance of nearby landscapes. This collaboration reveals an insight into the creative talents around us.
David Davies, Chantelle Henocq & Sebastian King.
From the garden to a nearby field, from a purpose-built studio to the kitchen table - keeping the creativity alive!
In Somerset there are only a small number of professional studio spaces and public galleries for artists and yet the artistic community is thriving. Somerset Art Weeks’ Open Studios event gives the public an insight into how artists work and are inspired. To celebrate this event, 11 artists were invited to work with our guide designer Chantelle Henocq; graduate photographer Sebastian King and Somerset-based writer David Davies, to produce a collection of images to be incorporated into the guide and other publicity materials.
Participating artists are Amanda Khan-Davis, David Brayne, Emma Scott, George Foweraker, Jane Brayne, Jane Mackey, John Candler, Melanie Moulding, Pauline Rooke, Simon Ledson and Val George. Large scale versions of the images and text were exhibited at The Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre during the Somerset Art Weeks 15th to 30th September 2012.
