Über das Buch
The book presents images of encounters and impressions that have accumulated over the years, mainly in India, Tibet, China and Japan. Emphasis is placed on traditional, even archaic environments, such as open-air markets, festivals, a school for traditional performing arts inSouth India and monasteries in Tibet. Some places have been visited repeatedly to see old friends and to look for changes. Most of the photographs are taken in black-and white in an attempt to tie the portraiture into a graphic composition.
