Über das Buch
This book consists of a selection of photographs, chosen from of an archive of images, taken by local children over the summer of 2004 in the Summerhill area of Dublin 1. The archive arose out of a project entitled Looking On Again and it was designed to help the children capture memories before the ensuing demolition of their homes began.
Using disposable Agfa cameras to record moments in their lives, these images were to be part of their future memories. Now in 2010, some of the children and their families no longer live in the homes photographed, as they were pulled down, as planned.
By randomly collecting images together that the children shot in their own homes, a fictional family album is created. This family album represents how each family is similar to another. Even though we think our own family is unique, every family album represents a collective family album of all families. This collective family album is to reflect the shared experience of the children, along with their parents and siblings, in having to move homes.
