Since 1962, Monte has shown his work in many important private and public galleries throughout Canada, USA and Europe. His interests continue to vary in scope, from monumental murals to contemporary, abstractive art and computer- generated digital images.



Early in 2004 he moved on to simpler, expressionistic work. These action works are objective, expressions of our place in the universe. Subject matter is secondary to the exploration of line, space and texture. Basic colours and fluid movement are of prime importance throughout the canvas.



Since 2006 Monte has been exploring a series of work called “Behind the Mask “. He believes that we sometimes wear masks either for real protection or to hide our true thoughts and feelings. Using varied forms of media, boldly-coloured, masked figures examine our role in the workplace.



Digital prints based on the relationship between the owner and the masks develop mystery and intrigue. These photo studies create a new world through an owner/mask cohesion. Romantic collages transport us to a surreal existence. These reassembled images reveal a transformation in vitality and power. The same issues of power, love and control are found in the episodes of life. His ‘On Stage’ prints look at life internationally. The world becomes a stage through multiple, photographic studies.



Monte is a mixed-media artist whose career began in London, Ontario, Canada. Presently he lives and works in a home studio in Kitchener, Ontario. He has explored the union between life and nature through painting, collage and computer-generated pieces.



Monte dedicates this art book to his wife Colleen and their three children who are always supportive of his artistic endeavours. He also dedicates it to the countless young artists who have hopes for the future.
