Über das Buch
Developed from years of hands-on experimentation and refinement, this booklet explains how to reduce the hair cuticle in a controlled, repeatable way while preserving enough cuticle to maintain the character and integrity of the hair. It covers the chemistry and safety behind the process, strand testing, the thumb test, treating tangling wigs, preparing hair for processing, and separate methods for reducing cuticle at the roots and points of bulk hair.
The second edition expands on the original method with revised timing guidance, updated safety and chemical-potency information, improved troubleshooting, and alternate formulations for countries where the standard chemical concentrations may be difficult to obtain.
Written for experienced wigmakers, this is not an introduction to wigmaking. It is a focused reference for those who want a deeper understanding of one of the most specialized and poorly documented aspects of human-hair processing.

Über den Autor
Jason Archer has been crafting and sewing since childhood. While working in the field of nursing, he became curious about the construction of lace wigs for medical alopecia patients. He originally studied under Marquetta Breslin in 2011. Later he received more training with John Yim. His background in nursing science and costume design prepared him well for the art of wig making. In addition to private clients, Jason has consulted for major wig brands. He has also appeared as a guest instructor for Lace Wig University. Jason is particularly known for his natural looking hairlines, embellished wig caps, and innovative maintenance techniques. Jason lives in the mountains near Asheville, North Carolina. When he isn’t working in the hospital, he is in his studio testing some new wig idea while trying to keep his cats off his worktable.
