Über das Buch
Organized around Cerritos College’s own photo-maestra, INHERITANCE: Christina Fernandez and Her Sphere of Influence, brings together thirteen young Latinx photographers to highlight the miriad ways visual and thematic elements in their work intersect with Christina Fernandez’s 30+ year practice (more than two decades of which include teaching the next generation of photographers right here at Cerritos College, some of whom are now exhibiting beside her).
As part of the show, the Projects Gallery features selections and ephemera from Fernandez’s extensive ouevre, including Maria’s Great Expedition, Lavanderia, Sereno, reflect/project(ion), and Suburban Nightscapes, as well as ephemera from her early career.
INHERITANCE is also Cerritos College Art Gallery’s contribution to FotoSoCal, a constellation of exhibitions across Southern California focused on Latinx photograhers, spearheaded by Erika Hirugami.
In addition to Christina Fernandez, the show features Isabel Avila, William Camargo, Damon Casarez, Devyn Galindo, Iris Huerta, Erick Iñiguez, Arlene Mejorado, Star Montana, Raylene B. Olalde, Aydinaneth Ortiz, Alkaid Ramirez, Carolina Isabel Salazar, and Juan Manuel Valenzuela.
