Poetry of a Surrendered Life - A Follower's Journey: Preface
This collection of poetic writing encompasses very real parts of the author's journey toward fully surrendering to her Heavenly Father, his will, and his ways. This journey and talks with the Father that have formed these poems and is one to be shared; shared with those struggling to find their voice and their way, those discouraged by those sharp edges that have resulted in feelings of disconnection, abandonment, and loneliness, even doubt of ourselves and our ability to reach and understand a Father that exists outside the realms of time and space.
Our journey, whether early or late in life, teaches us our inability to understand God and His ways on our terms. But that’s the call of our Creator. A call to trust His words, not just written but those spoken by His Spirit into our hearts. His call is to surrender. To trust. To act. Most of us have heard the verse from the Book of James: "Faith without works is dead." Many of the poetic lines in this book call the reader to choose: to draw closer to our Heavenly Father in complete, unhinged surrender, or to live for ourselves and our earthly desires. Those who have chosen to follow are called to walk as Jesus walked, completely devoted to doing the Father’s will, not as we see it, or think it should be, but as He desires.
Uncomfortable? Yes, oftentimes. Worth it? Always.
