Peggy Ahwesh
Brooklyn
Peggy Ahwesh, film and video artist, came of age in the 70's in Pittsburgh with feminist politics and the experimental film underground. She started working with S8mm film and now works in film, video audio and digital media in work that spans a variety styles in an inquiry into feminism, cultural identity and genre. Ahwesh is represented by Microscope Gallery, New York. In 2022, she received The Acker Award that honors contributions to the downtown NYC art community. Ahwesh is Professor Emeritus of Film and Electronic Arts at Bard College.
