In January 2025 I attended the Canberra Games Convention (CANCON) at the Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC), Mitchell to observe and photograph. CANCON has been going for many years in Canberra and takes place in this location traditionally on a weekend nearest to the public holiday Australia Day (26th January). Broadly speaking, the activities at CANCON were divided into three sections:
a. Miniature Figurine tournament games
b. Board tournament Games
c. Game Traders.

By far the largest gaming contingent at this Convention was the miniature figurine tournament games. Miniature figurine tournament games are essentially a men's preserve, with hardly any women playing: this work highlights this observation and presents some preliminary commentary.
