Über das Buch
This family history - written for the family, but with much wider significance - tells two migration stories. In the mid-1940s, a newly-married couple sets out from India for East Africa, in the hope of a better life. Twenty years later, and now with nine children, they migrate to Australia where the family makes large and varied contributions to Australian life. 'Funga Safari', meaning in Swahili 'let's pack up and go', traces the family's origins in Kerala, their lives in East Africa during the Mau Mau insurgency and the struggle for Kenyan independence, and their migration to Australia during the later years of the infamous 'white Australia policy'.
