Working on with found materials, the unglamorous detritus of a post-industrial country, Dauvit uses an uncompromising approach in the two main strands of his work: his jewellery is rough-hewn but uses the skills of a fine-jeweller to bring sophistication and finesse to the work; his socially-engaged practice works with marginalised people to consider how craft and activism can begin to tackle seemingly intractable issues.
