Über das Buch
A kiss up to the sky - a cry of appreciation for my mother, Sharon Bachmann. For 77 years, she was a golden beam of sunshine on this earth. She gave herself completely to her spheres - Camp Highlands for Boys, the Pre-School at the First Congregational Church of Western Springs, her community, her friends, and her family. 148 friends wrote in with tributes - unsolicited - after her death. This book is the collective response to her life. Mom was one in a million.

My books are mostly about Camp Highlands for Boys - the oldest American summer camp west of the Allegheny mountains. Nestled along the shores of a hilly peninsula - jutting out into the sandy bottomed, spring fed Plum Lake - Highlands is the stuff of Northern Wisconsin dreams. Camp's University of Chicago origin story - with its many colorful and beautiful personalities - intrigues me to no end! There was - and is - so much to work with! On Mike - A True Highlands Man A Camp on Plum Lake Historic Photographs from the Magical Archives Sunday at Highlands To Brag Little, to Show Well (a 2013 reprise of the 1974 original) An Interlude with Mike The 1914 Dinglebat Sharon's Sunshine Who's That Girl?
