When walking through the thick ancient forest you feel as if you have walked into a fairy tale from the Brothers Grimm.



Here you will find extraordinary miracles of nature: Banyan-trees with roots that grow in the air like enormous braids, each plant growing on another plant creating layers of wondrous green, moss softly wrapped around everything adding stunning colour contrast.



It is said that the enchanted forest in Hayao Miyazaki' s film "Princess Mononoke" is based on the forest in Yakushima.
