Apperception is the mental process by which a person makes sense of one’s perceptions, by assimilating them to the body of knowledge they already possess. My visual perception is uniquely my own and so my apperception may differ markedly from others. The camera functions as window, mirror, microscope, and telescope. These tools enable me to examine, reflect, analyze, and deepen my vision. The seeking of understanding, of making sense of what I see, is for me a kind of scientific quest.
