The paradox is a phenomenon in our life. It will unbalance a personal harmony and, on a large scale, a society. It can appear in our beliefs, the way of thinking, and in appearance. Cherry-picking without knowledge from pleasing concepts, modern lifestyle, and traditional biases will shape you into a self-contradictory character. It will generate a gap between who you are and who you want to pretend to be to fit into society under the strict laws of the government. A suppressed generation has to live based on their limited freedom of choice and what they are forced to chose. Also, preferring comfort over seeking knowledge to understand the true meaning of subjects will lead you into a fake personality, sometimes without knowing it. I lived for over 20 years in Iran. I was a witness of how people’s belief and culture is getting a new direction. You should join them or live on the minority side of society in silence. Therefore, as a photographer, I tried to capture and recreated those contradictory characters with a bit of dark humor and sarcasm in this book.
