Martha A. Wade is a Chicago-based visual artist, storyteller, and keeper of legacies. Her brush moves with intention, capturing the beauty, struggle, and undeniable strength of the human spirit. Her early work danced in dreams—filled with symbols and constellations—but now it stands like a mirror in the storm, reflecting the world as it is while imagining what it can become. Each piece is a celebration of resilience, identity, and possibility.

Art runs in her blood. Martha is the daughter of the late Eugene “Eda” Wade, a pioneering muralist of the 1960s whose public works helped define Chicago’s Black Arts Movement. A teacher and community builder, Eda shaped generations of artists, including his own daughter. Before his passing, he and Martha planned a collaborative exhibition—a conversation across time. Today, Martha honors that legacy by incorporating his prints, sketches, and spirit into her mixed media practice. His lines meet her colors. His wisdom meets her wonder.
