Vue X Yang is a chemical Engineer by training and obtained his Master Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1977 from the French engineering school called “ Institut National Des Sciences Appliqués de Lyon, France”. After graduation, he went to work for 4 years as General Field Service Engineer for Schlumberger Overseas Company on the oil drilling platforms of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Yemen and United Arabs Emirates from 1977 to 1981.
In the Spring of 2020, Lakeland University in Wisconsin conferred a Doctorate Degree of Humane Letters to Vue X. Yang in recognition of his distinguished career and his services to the public in Wisconsin, USA, and all across the world. Lakeland University is affiliated with the United Church of Christ and offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees. "Vue X. Yang might have been the first Hmong person to receive such prestigious recognition."
