Sacha Halona Baumann makes books by walking. She is an artist, designer, curator, and arts administrator based in downtown Los Angeles, where she documents the city through surfaces, shadows, signs, and small repeating details.
Her ongoing photobook series STEP AND REPEAT gathers hundreds of smartphone photographs made during frequent walks through downtown Los Angeles. Now spanning two volumes, the series builds an accumulating portrait of the neighborhood, one image—and one literal step—at a time. The first volume was featured by Carolina A. Miranda in the Los Angeles Times. She is also the founder of the arts broadsheet FULL BLEDE.
Born in Hollywood. Still paying attention.
