I started raising money for a Hospice in Coventry, in memory of my first wife Sue. While she needed to move in to a hospice in her final days, she did not want to go to Warwick, the nearest hospice, as she thought it was too far away for friends to visit. She died in Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry in 1996.

In support of the fund-raising I set up the “Sue and John Dixon Charitable Trust in 1996”, and with the help of a lot of friends we raised over £50,000 towards the £8,000,000 required.
Work commenced on the Hospice in 2008 and was completed in 2011.

As part of our contribution we agreed to produce a wall of giving at the hospice for the largest donors, and produce a book of giving for the over 1200 groups, organisations and individuals who gave to the fund raising.
