I was born and raised in southeastern Kentucky during the 1930s and 40s. I joined the US Air Force as a mechanic and was stationed in Maine until I was discharged several years later. I married and remain in Maine as a bluegrass musician and maker of fine bluegrass instruments, most notably the banjo.
