I am a retired photojournalist, having worked for my hometown paper, The Mount Vernon News for 15 years. Brfore that I .lived in New York City for 126 years working in photography and for the last 18 of those 26 years I ran a b/w custom photo lab.
I have been involved in photography since I was 7 years old. That makes 58 years as of May 2013.
In 2001 I was diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic and survived a blood sugar level of 1464. I quickly got it under control where it stayed until about 2010. I fell prey to one of the chilling side effects of the disease. I lost my right leg above the knee i 2011. I was able to go back to work with the aide of a prosthesis and a walker. But, as is the case many times the disease was not satisfied with just one leg and I lost the left leg in 2012. I was unable to get the hang of walking with two prosthesis despite some wonder efforts by several great therapists. I reluctantly retired from the news business but haven't given up photography.
