Growing up in downtown Manhattan, I attended P.S. 234 in the 90s. From what I remember, the teaching methods of P.S. 234 were comparable to the teaching format in Montessori schools. As students, we rarely sat at desks, never copied what was on the board, and often had discussions to share thoughts and ideas. I loved it. I was being set me up for a future to think outside the box. Years later, as an adult, I started my passion for teaching in South Korea. There, I learned, students were mainly taught to listen and copy; such an environment allowed little room for creativity. After a couple of years, I left Korea and Au Paired in Australia, then taught for a STEAM kids camp in Phoenix, Arizona. "Draw and color" was inspired from the different experiences and teaching moments I had with children from various parts of the world. It's a book derived from my passion to give children the opportunity to imagine and expand their existing knowledge in a fun, creative, and challenging way.
