Jennylynd James is a multidisciplinary creative—an artist, writer, singer, and food scientist—embodying the spirit of a modern Renaissance woman. Her professional work in the food industry has taken her across the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Canada, experiences that continue to inform and enrich her creative voice. In 2009, while living in Ireland as an entrepreneur, Jennylynd uncovered a previously untapped talent for drawing and painting. What began as an extension of her artistic approach to running a food business soon evolved into a focused practice in portraiture and sketching.
Her work is characterized by vivid color palettes inspired by her heritage and global travels. Today, Jennylynd stands as part of a new wave of Afro-Mexican artists, weaving together personal history and lived experiences within Mexican culture—particularly her journey of self-discovery in Yucatán.
Her artwork is held in private collections across Canada, the US, Caribbean and Mexico.
