Über das Buch
Candid views on being bipolar: The Brain, the Mind, and our Animal Soul.
It is difficult to accept that the rhythm, tone, and meaning of our thoughts are the result of electrochemical states of the brain. We have after all, given names to our physiology. Matter becomes aware of itself and experiences pain or pleasure, kindness or cruelty, compassion or utmost evil. It is one thing to say that our brains work like computers, with communication handled by neurons in chemical baths, and quite another to name this bio structure heart and soul, the mind of Cicero, the love of Aunt Sarah. It is only because we have been taught to do so that we assume our self has come from somewhere else, rather than being generated by our brain, but physical reality is the source of everything human.
