Anna and Mark need to relocate to County Durham for work reasons and inexplicably, fall in love with a derelict mansion over three hundred years old. When Anna becomes pregnant, she is plagued by a recurrent dream with echoes from the past, in which a lonely girl, the youngest child from the big house, befriends children living on her father's estate with long term consequences.
