Inspired by stories long ago expressed in verse, it is a modern-day fairy tale-like story. Here we have the lead in and build up; where coal is coal, dreaming of being a diamond. But what is a diamond but coal under enormous pressure? And it is within these poems we see the pressure begin to build - but the coal is only that and nothing more. The infinite potential with no avenue of fulfillment - and the force bears onward. And this metaphor begs the very real question: Are Heroines made or are they born?
