Über das Buch
We have produced this guide for professionals working in education, mental health and interpreting as part of the SIGNALL 3 project.
Within this guide we draw on, and succinctly report on the vast body of literature that discusses deafness and Deafhood. We take a look at terminology and definitions of ‘deaf’ and ‘Deaf’. We explore aspects of the Deaf community, considering concepts like ‘linguistic genocide’ and how they play out in terms of attitudes to signed languages and policy approaches to deaf education.
It includes some useful tips for teachers and mental health professionals that are easy to implement.
