Über das Buch
Metaphorically describing the heart of poverty through poetry and bible verse, this book takes you on the Journey through the downward spiral of poverty.
The cycle of poverty is where poor families have become trapped in poverty. This continuing circular process is almost impossible for individuals to break out of. When the poor do not have the opportunities necessary to get out of poverty, such as finances or a good education, their circumstances cause them to remain in poverty throughout their lives. This cycle then continues on through further generations in a pattern of behaviours and situations, which cannot be easily changed.
Many would agree that a good education increases skills, but in order to get this a child needs to have the time, energy and motivation to study. With little encouragement from parents and a lack of employment, parents will send children out onto the streets to work; here they become exposed to street living where the pull of freedom and friendship on the street is powerful. The child leaves home expecting a brighter future, where as living and working on the streets proves to be difficult, criminal activity and addiction leaves little hope in their lives.
In this book I have begun at the bottom of the cycle where you will see children living in complete despair and addiction with little hope, as you move through the book you will come across different stages of living, lastly the images bring you to a family circumstance where the journey to the street may have begun for the children at the bottom of the cycle. Though most of these lives seem helpless there is still a glimmer of hope for many.
