Über das Buch
The text in this book was written by Peggy during her final years and it was compiled by her family by adding a number of relevant photographs and cuttings.
The book begins with her birth in 1912 and continues with the story of Peggy's childhood in Streatham and her schooling at 'The Shrubbery'. In Peggy's adult life, it describes her time in Singapore during the Second World War. Particularly fascinating is her evacuation from Singapore with her infant child and the long journey back to England, suffering a U-boat torpedo attack and subsequent sinking off the East coast of America. The memoirs then describe expatriation to Bangkok and Peggy's life in Middleton-upon-Sea and Lurgashall. In her late life, she moved to Chichester where, in 2009, after a short spell in a nursing home, she died at the grand age of 96, leaving behind this rich life story for her family and friends to remember and treasure.
