La Crocetta
La Crocetta is the first workers district of Modena. A district of unused buildings that do not speak of their story, nor that of the neighborhood. The presence of these industrial settlements was largely connected to the residential areas that hosted the houses for the workers. The abandonment of the production cycle has in fact changed the face of the area and its relationship with the rest of the city. This is why I believe it is important to preserve the historical memories of these place which involves an important segment of the city and its development. Today the old roads, the railway ramifications, the “connective tissue” of the area are dismissed, and nature is slowly taking over.
