For some many years now I've been wanting to make art that says something about evil and
villainy but never had any creative ideas. However around the year 2000 during my oil on canvas
period I did two paintings from a planned execution series and also a painting related to 9/11 and one
about Saddam Hussein but that was 17 years past. Over the intervening years I was always thinking
about how and even why would I try to make beauty out of evil since aesthetic perfection had always
been my goal with the first part of this book being an example of that.
Then came along P45, the now 45th President who displayed so many of the manifestations
and characteristics of Villains. Over the months of seeing P45 in public discourse he seemingly turned
on the spigots of creativity in my imagination. Of course the villains I have begun to portray are the
capital V villains, those who commit genocide and democide. In the future I will also portray small time
criminals and murders in artistic ways.
Along the way, and after looking at historical photographs of so many malefactors, I was seeing
their opponents and realized there were many great men with great faces opposing the blackguards
and so I should also do a Hero series.
