Our Journey to Prague in November of 1992 was to document the Western influence in a post-authoritarian-government. Now, in an era of increasing authoritarianism worldwide, it seemed vital to reflect on the fight for freedom that unfolded in Eastern Europe before and after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. The years of Soviet dominance and oppression serve as a stark reminder of how centralized power can suppress democracy, erode civil liberties, undermine the separation of powers, and diminish the rule of law to maintain political control. This book explores the transformation that took place in Prague three years after the Berlin Wall collapse, capturing the restoration of political and cultural freedoms and the city’s resurgence during the pivotal moment in history.
