Über das Buch
Many photographers would say, "in my mind's eye I saw the image I wanted to create." This is known as pre-visualization. The "mind's eye" is also a synonym for "tablets of the memory", which is the title I chose for this book. During my brief time studying with Ansel Adams, he was forever referring to his "minds eye" when speaking about making his photographs and as a result, the phrase has been permanently etched into my consciousness.
In the attempt to expose my minds eye, I've selected photographs which bare personal import and offer a snapshot of how I view the world we live in, as well as, what some might think are strange, but never the less, concoctions brewed in my consciousness.
A host of thoughts, calculations and most important of all, feelings occur almost simultaneously, when a photographer is about to make his image. I know, that when I create a photograph, I'm not only employing the technical aspects of photography, but also elements and events that have formed the threads of who I am. It was my vision of this process and I'll admit to some extent, my appreciation of the "Lady of the Lake" legend from the King Arthur tales, that inspired the cover image for Tablets Of The Memory.
Even though this collection of photographs were made in Southwest Florida, they are not a visual dissertation on the subject, but rather, they reflect my experiences, thoughts and feelings within my surroundings. They are a discovery of the inherent beauty and surprise found within the ordinary as well as the exceptional.

Über den Autor
My photography career began like most, with the opening of a studio, shooting portraits and weddings. I was looking for a way into product and fashion photography. I got my break when while shooting a model portfolio for the daughter of the advertising director for Nordstrom department stores. She asked me if I'd be interested in doing the fall supplement of their catalog. Of course I jumped at the chance and never looked back. Some of who I had liked to call my "heavy hitter” clients were of course Nordstrom, followed by Milton Bradley Toys, Sears, Coca Cola, Smith & Wesson, Spaulding Sporting Goods, General Foods, Marriott Host, and many others. Where in the past, I was always under an ad agency or client deadline, I can now create images purely for the love of photography.
