Über das Buch
Melbourne is a unique city with lots of culture and heritage. I hoped to create this book to give a somewhat accurate depiction of the city through photographs. It was produced as a part of my Year 9 2016 ‘Choice Journey’. The book is designed to be informative, yet beautiful and inspiring. I have spent many hours venturing through the city and surrounds to capture the images within this book. Over 20,000 individual photographs were taken during this time. I love living here and get inspired constantly by the beauty of our people, landscapes and culture. During my journey of creating the images, I met many fascinating people, photographers and was asked by tourists to take their photo countless times.
The intention of our ‘Choice Journey’ was to spend a minimum of 40 hours on a project of great interest to us. I had already developed some photography skills previously, and these skills were greatly developed and enhanced throughout my recent adventures. Some of the skills I learnt throughout the Choice Journey included improved people interactions, photography techniques, and writing/editing skills for the creation of this book. To capture the photographs I ventured into the Melbourne CBD numerous times, I travelled to Coburg, Carlton Gardens and the State Library to witness and document protests. I also attended a series of photography courses, two of these events were sponsored by Canon Australia, allowing me to learn skills and use professional photography equipment. The other courses were run by ‘Arava in Focus’, a small group of professional Israeli photographers who shared a passion for street and outdoor photography. I learnt valuable skills and received constructive feedback on my images. My experiences not only created this wonderful book on my city, but also gave me priceless experiences and skills that I hope will inspire others to find their passion in life and run with it!
