Über das Buch
Photos of empty, deserted homes and buildings, without any text, where you feel the nostalgia, memories, and often sadness.
And of people who still work or relax with traditional, old ways and customs, such as the village baker.
The new style habitat for the modern Greeks is a love affair with concrete - Apartments and detached homes, unless you are rich and lucky enough to find Craftsmen to renovate a property.
And, as younger members of the family leave to seek a future elsewhere, in the major cities, or abroad, their rooms are often kept like a museum by the parents, waiting for their return. Deserted rooms in derelict places now have new occupants - Immigrants from Bulgaria, Albania and Syria.
Full families trying to survive.
Changing times.
My thanks to many people here in the Village of Galatas, Crete, and in Vatoussa, Mytilni

Über den Autor
I am an English travel photographer based in Chania, Western Crete, Greece. It's my late fathers fault I got into all this. He was a very keen amateur and since being a child I have been used to light meters, Rollieflex cameras and the pure magic of seeing photos being developed in the darkroom. I have travelled extensively from the Algarve to Zanzibar and thoroughly enjoy the ideal combination of travel and photography, and attempting to capture the essence of a destination with style. Clients include International Tour Operators and publishers of Travel Guides such as Dorling Kindersley, Fodors and Insight as well as Editorial Magazines like Conde Nast Traveller UK and Hong Kong Tatler. Getty Images signed me up in 1994, and more recently I have been submitting work to Auroraphotos. My personal work is color intensive graphic images. Also I organize Annual Photo Workshops in Brazil, Crete, Istanbul, Lesbos, Slovenia and Zanzibar to guide people in the craft of seeing pictures.
