Über das Buch
A walk along the 'Golden Mile' changed my perception of Blackpool seafront. As I walked my aim was to capture the ordinary and in a documentary, as opposed to journalistic, style. While walking many aspects of the streetscape attracted my interest: evidence of a Golden Mile in times passed (i.e. what we would now consider 'vintage' Blackpool); signage; the use of colour to attract the eye; expression; contemporary fashion (especially footwear); behaviour; the demographic of the sidewalk and the admixture of dalylight with various artificial sources of illumination. These are street photographs on days when nothing in particular is happening. There are no events taking place, nothing out of the ordinary; simply people, singly and in groups, taking in that seafront at Blackpool - a streetscape that is recognisable to all that have been there to visit.
